We’re excited to announce that Buchanan Art has been selected to provide original artworks for the communal spaces at Gilbanks No.1 St Michael’s—Manchester’s newest premium flexible workspace. As part of this project, Folkestone artist Mark Millsted has been commissioned to create a series of striking, large-scale paintings that will bring energy and character to the space.
Mark’s work is highly dynamic, driven by an expressive and process-led approach. He primarily works with oil paints and mixed media, embracing movement, experimentation, and even unexpected mistakes as an integral part of his creative journey. His bold, confident marks encourage action and spontaneity, making his work a perfect fit for the innovative and inspiring atmosphere that Gilbanks is cultivating.

One painting has already been completed, and the remaining two are currently in progress. With a keen eye for composition and a willingness to tailor his work to a specific colour palette, Mark is ensuring that the pieces seamlessly integrate with the interior vision of Ekho Studio, the award-winning design firm leading the project. The final artworks are set to be installed by the third week of May, marking the finishing touches on an exceptional workspace that champions both sustainability and artistic excellence.
This collaboration between Buchanan Art, Mark Millsted, and Gilbanks highlights the value of original art in shaping inspiring professional environments. We can’t wait to see the completed pieces in place, and we’re proud to contribute to such an exciting landmark development in Manchester.
Stay tuned for updates as we approach installation!
